The short answer
For Shopify Markets, a discount widget has to get three things right: the language of its text, the currency of its amounts, and which offer applies in which market. For translated widgets that follow your Shopify Markets currencies at the lowest price, Discount Prime is the closest fit. Here is how six apps handle that, as of October 2026.
| App | Rating · Reviews | Price | What it does for Markets | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Discount Prime | 5.0 · 20 | Free Starter; paid $9.90 to $99.90/mo | All 13 widgets translated on every plan; editing translations from $9.90/mo. Amounts shown in the shopper's currency using your Shopify Markets setup | Amounts are converted, not hand-set per currency |
| Fantastic Markets Discounts | 4.4 · 10 | Free on development stores only; $19.99 and $39.99/mo | Different discounts per market, multi-currency | No storefront widgets listed; email support only |
| Pixoo Multi-Currency Discounts | 4.8 · 23 | No free plan; $15.99 to $79/mo | Fixed discount amounts per currency with no conversion; cart progress bar | Focused on discount codes rather than on-page merchandising |
| Regios Automatic Discounts | 4.9 · 212 | No free plan; $34.99 to $249.99/mo with order caps | Discounted prices on product, collection and search pages | Highest starting price here; Markets not listed as a feature |
| Discounty: Bulk Discount Sales | 4.9 · 1,282 | Free up to 10 variants; $9.90 to $49.90/mo | Widget translation on Essential ($29.90/mo) and up | No stated multi-currency or Markets support |
| Kite Discount, Free Gift, BOGO | 4.9 · 1,325 | Free up to 50 orders/mo; $29 to $99/mo | Widget translation and market targeting from $29/mo | Free and Starter plans not available to Advanced or Plus stores |

What does "localized" really mean for a discount widget?
Most app listings say "multilingual" or "multi-currency" and leave it there. For a merchant selling into several countries, a widget is only localized when it passes three separate tests.
1. Language
Every word the shopper reads has to switch with the page: the title on a quantity/value table, the "Sale" on a sale badge, the "You're $12 away from free shipping" line on a progress bar, the buttons in a BOGO popup. A French product page with an English pricing table under the add-to-cart button tells the shopper the discount was an afterthought.
This is where most stores break, because general translation apps translate the theme and the product catalog, not text that another app injects into the page. We cover why in how to translate discount widgets on Shopify.
2. Currency
A free shipping threshold of 50 means nothing to a shopper in Japan if the widget still says "$50". Any amount a widget shows, whether a threshold, a saving or a new price, has to appear in the currency the shopper is paying in.
There are two ways to do it, and the difference matters:
- Converted amounts. The widget shows your store-currency amount converted into the shopper's currency through your Shopify Markets setup. This is how Discount Prime works. It needs no extra setup, and it stays correct as your Markets settings change. The trade-off is that a converted amount can land on an untidy number unless you use Shopify's price rounding.
- Hand-set amounts. You type a fixed amount for each currency, so a threshold is exactly ¥5,000 in Japan and exactly €40 in Germany. Pixoo is built around this. It gives you round numbers, but every currency is another value to maintain.
3. Market-specific offers
Sometimes the offer itself should differ by market: free shipping in your home country only, or a deeper discount in a market you are launching into. A widget that advertises an offer the shopper cannot actually get is worse than no widget at all. Fantastic Markets Discounts and Kite's market targeting address this; check that whatever you choose hides the widget, not just the discount, where an offer does not apply.
How to test a discount widget in each market
Do this before a sale goes live, and again after any change to your Markets setup.
- List your markets and languages. In the Shopify admin, open Settings, then Markets and Languages, and note every combination you actually sell in.
- Switch to each market on the storefront. Use your store's country and language selector, or the market's URL (for example a
/fr-ca/subfolder), so you see exactly what a shopper there sees. - Read every widget. Check the text on product pages, collection pages and the cart. Look for any word still in your default language.
- Check every amount. Thresholds, savings and table prices should all be in the market's currency, and they should match what checkout charges.
- Check which offers appear. If a campaign is limited to some markets, confirm its widget disappears everywhere else.
- Go to checkout. The discount the widget promised should be the discount that is applied.
- Repeat on a phone. German and French text runs longer than English, and Japanese has no spaces to wrap on, so narrow screens are where translated widgets break first.
Where Discount Prime fits
We built Discount Prime for merchants who want every discount widget to speak the shopper's language without paying extra for it. All 13 storefront widgets are translated on every plan, including the free one. You set each widget's text for every language your store publishes in Shopify, the widget detects the shopper's language automatically, and anything you have not translated falls back to your default text. Amounts follow your Shopify Markets currencies. The details are on our widget translations page, and you can install Discount Prime from the Shopify App Store on the free Starter plan.
If you need hand-set amounts in every currency, or a different discount rule per country with no widgets at all, Pixoo or Fantastic Markets Discounts may suit you better, and we would rather you pick the right tool.
